FROM MY BALCONY
Chronicles of a Parisian confinement
The idea of taking photos of my balcony came to me at the beginning of the confinement, but the definitive form took a long time to emerge.
Gradually I came to realize what a unique opportunity it was to be able to observe, from my second-floor balcony, scenes reflecting the full range of emotions, scenes full of humanity. Only this confinement could reveal them.
The conditions were ideal: almost no traffic, few passers-by and even few bicycles (at the start), not to mention a splendid spring with exceptional luminosity in a sunny climate. Paris limpid.
My approach:
With all these images sorted and worked on, I published two chronicles in my blog. To my great surprise, these columns were a great success. I received many warm messages and a great demand for them:
"...when's the book?"
I called my friend Carlos Schmerkinwho designed and produced all my previous books, an essential complement to my work as a photographer, and I put the idea to him. He said "OK" and we embarked on this adventure together.
For three months, we worked on the photos, adding others taken with my iPhone during my daily "itineraries" around the République and Canal Saint-Martin districts. Then we refined the captions to accentuate the humorous touches and winks.
Now that the model is finished, I can't wait to share with you my vision of this unique Parisian confinement.
Here are a few representative feedback of readers of my blog :
"Beautiful, tender and moving
Éliane
"Moments captured with humor, tenderness and talent".
Colette
"Your text made me think, smile, laugh and, sometimes, cry.
Ruth
"You knew how to bring life back to places where it had been suspended.
Isabelle
I look forward to hearing from you!
